Why is it that our politicians feel the need to play smoke and mirrors with the American People. Do they not serve at the whims of the people to serve the people in their best interest. I found the above link on the web page of Rep. Doug Lamborn R-Colorado. He claims he has signed it, and yet he continues to call for drilling in ANWR and the Outer Continental Shelf of the United States.
I am sure this declaration has been signed by other members of Congress as well. It is great they can throw together a great looking worthless document and pass it to the American people as "see we are doing something to earn the money you pay us."
Our current energy crisis and oil problems stem from a lack of forsight ten to fifteen years ago by our leaders. We have known for some time that our carbon energy supplies are finite, and that we would have to go to war to protect them.
It is time for our current leaders to make a true declaration for energy independence. Why are there still those calling for more oil use when we have alternate sources of clean 100% renewable energy. Why are those who are still calling for oil use when we have the technology to use 100% clean renewable energy from wind and solar electricity?
Why are there some still calling for drilling in environmentally sensitive areas, when the oil companies are not exploiting all of the areas that are currently approved for drilling. It is because they are continuing to profit from the suffering of the people of the United States and the world.
It is time to contact our elected officials, and ask them to commit to 100% clean electricity by 2018. Ask them to commit to upgrading the National Power Grid. This is a must. Ask them to support retooling Detroit to produce vehicles that run on electricity. Ask them to support building wind and solar producing facilities.
These are suggestions for kicking our addiction to oil, creating jobs and working out some of the issues in our economy. If our elected represenatives refuse to work for the best interest of the people, it is time to fire them and start over.
Talk to your elected officials. They only hear us when we talk to them!
