Below is a copy of a letter I have written to the city leaders of Colorado Springs. I ask that everyone write their city, state and national leaders and ask them to make a pledge to clean energy. Only when our leaders hear from the people, do they know what we want.

Greetings Mayor, Vice Mayor, and Council Members,

Although I do not live in the City of Colorado Springs, I manage a retail service business and feel compelled to write you about issues that are affecting all of the United States. As you are aware we are in a dire financial crisis. We are suffering from high gas and oil prices. One way I have noticed is that repaving projects and pot hole filling are not as common this year due to the cost of the oil that must be used in the asphalt mix.

I am writing to request that you proclaim and adopt a clean energy policy for Colorado Springs. It is time for Colorado Springs to be a leader in Colorado, the United States, and the world. Adopt a policy to use electricity from 100% clean sources such as wind and solar energy by 2018. Commit to having a fleet of 100% clean electric vehicles. Ask Colorado Springs Utilities to commit to 100% clean power generation by 2018.

By saying no to more oil we can begin to build a new energy economy based on clean and sustainable energy policy. An investment now will pay for itself over and over again. If we wait and continue business as usual we will suffer worse economic hardship. If that is not enough, I ask do you want future wildfires to be worse because we are not doing are part to minimze carbon dioxide in the atmosphere which will accelerate global warming.

If nothing else, please watch the following videos and then decide to do what is right for Colorado Springs, and the world.
